  • We are seeking passionate Football Coaches to lead Football Journeys’ (FJ) youth leadership sessions at our partner schools in Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Southwark between February-June 2022.


    Football Coach (Freelance)

    We are looking for positive and experienced Football Coaches to lead on delivery of FJ youth leadership and integration sessions at our partner schools. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. We will assess applications in two rounds with deadlines as follows: Monday 6th December at 5pm and Monday 10th January at 5pm.

    Job Specification

    Football Coach (Freelance)

    ● Contract Term: Weekly youth sessions between February and June 2022.
    ● Location: Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Southwark.
    ● Salary: £75 per half day. Each session will be considered a half day. This covers 1 hr prep, 1hr 30min delivery, 1hr wrap up & evaluation.
    ● Start date: No later than Monday 24th January 2022.
    ● Reporting to: Programme Manager.

    ● We encourage interested applicants to submit their applications early as we will fill spots on a first-come, first-serve basis.
    ● Interviews: In December 2021 and January 2022.

    *The number of school programmes you deliver will depend on your circumstances and aspirations. There is initial scope for 16 sessions per school being delivered every week after school between February - June 2022. If you would like to deliver at more than one school we are open to this and it can be discussed further. Please note this role is continuous regardless of school term delivery time. Coaches will be offered work every week, sometimes focusing on delivery of FJ’s Schools Programme and sometimes on our Ambassadors Programme.

    Purpose of Role

    We are seeking passionate Football Coaches to lead FJ sessions at schools in Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Southwark. We are looking for positive and dedicated Coaches to lead on and develop FJ sessions and people who are excited about bringing young people together to build relationships and learning.

    Our sessions are fun and energetic, interactive and enriching. We have designed them to support young people build teamwork, communication and leadership skills and to value difference through learning from people from different areas and backgrounds. We also develop their social and emotional skills and academic attitudes. Our sessions are varied with plenty of team-building games, participatory approaches and leadership activities.

    Responsibilities

    Football Coaches will work closely with our Programme Manager & Head of Programmes, along with our school link teachers.

    Delivery & Facilitation

    ● Lead Football Journeys sports leadership curriculum through football and other physical activities in both classroom and outdoor settings
    ● Adapt sessions to make them engaging and inclusive
    ● Work in collaboration with our Creative Coaches to deliver sessions
    ● Management and delivery of any other youth leadership events as necessary
    ● Support participants to complete their programme qualifications
    ● Maintaining positive relationships with partner schools

    Monitoring & Evaluation

    ● Evaluate sessions and make adjustments to activities to ensure young people can get the most out of sessions
    ● Provide feedback on the programme and actively create improved curriculum for the programme
    ● Ensure consistent and appropriate atmosphere for participant evaluation and that all measurements are fully undertaken

    Person Specification

    ● A wide range of experience facilitating sessions with young people. You’ll be able to deliver interactive activities using football, games and physical activities to enable young people to participate fully and develop collective action and learning.
    ● Experience working with young people in school settings.
    ● A passion to work with young people to develop their confidence, understanding of the community and wider world they live in and their communication & team-work skills.
    ● An ability to work well in a team/be collaborative and also to be independent and take ownership of your role.
    ● Very strong listening skills with ability to elicit ideas, feedback and answers from young people to help direct and develop activities.
    ● Ability to stimulate the creativity of young people and build strong relationships and authentic rapport.
    ● A good understanding of working in secondary schools with regards to school targets and student outcomes.

    Desirable

    ● In the ideal scenario coaches should be local to the area where they are working to ease transportation issues. Local knowledge will also really help the coaches help young people explore their communities.
