Schools

Overview

Our 16 week programme helps participants develop core emotional and social skills, exploring leadership through football and identity through film. We support them to:

  • Develop positive attitudes, confidence, learning and self-esteem.

  • Improve skills in leadership, teamwork and communication.

  • Build positive relationships with peers within their own school and also from different communities and backgrounds.

Through film we encourage them to challenge their self-perception as well as their views of others from different backgrounds. Our football sessions use game-related practices to explore topics like prejudice, stereotypes, and leadership.

By completing our program, participants earn a nationally recognised Level 1, OCN Qualification in Youth Leadership and Active Citizenship.

Exchanges

The exchanges are filled with team building activities and games. We always welcome teachers to join in, and require two members of staff to travel to the partner school. The days are run by Football Journeys coaches, and we provide food and drinks to students and staff. To add to the experience of exploring London, we ask schools to travel on public transport. The timings mirror a school day, and we work around best times to arrive and leave to minimise disruption in the school setting.

  • Exchanges are 2 x full days in May

  • One day visiting partner school

  • One day hosting partner school

When hosting, you will need to provide an outside space for activities, and an inside space for the group to eat lunch. Space should be big enough to accommodate up to 40 students, plus staff.
