Overview

Our work is based on experiential learning, allowing participants to discover and gain new skills and networks while encouraging and expanding beyond their comfort zones.

Using story-telling and football activities as unifying tools, participants take part in our weekly programme of structured activities to learn about and value their own identity and challenge their perceptions of others.

Each school is partnered with a school from a different borough in London. In the first 6 weeks, both schools will make a film about their own school, local community, and identity. Both schools will initially get to meet each other through their films... before finally meeting between weeks 11- 13, where both schools get to visit one another over a two-day exchange.

Schedule

  • Weeks 1 - 6 Film Making & Football

Participants explore identity and their local community by filming interviews with their teachers and local businesses, while developing team working skills through football.

  •
Weeks 7 - 10 Film Screenings & Football

Participants have the opportunity to watch their partner's school film and prepare for visiting and hosting their partner school.

  •
Weeks 11 - 13 Exchanges

Exchange days will take place over two days. One day in your own school and one day in your partner school. The exchanges are full of group activities and challenges.

  • We will need an indoor space to show a video and introduce the programme, followed by football on the pitch.

  • Registration forms are to be given out at the taster session and must be returned by 10th Feb.

**Please note students will strictly not be allowed to participate until we have received their signed registration forms.

Exchanges

The exchanges are filled with team building activities and games. We always welcome teachers to join in and require one member of staff to travel to the partner school. We will have 4 x FJ team members on the day. To add to the experience of exploring London we suggest using public transport. The timings match a school day and we work around best times to arrive and leave to minimise disruption in the school setting.

  • Exchanges are 2 x full days between 8th May and 22nd May

  • One day visiting partner school

  • One day hosting partner school

  • Food provided by FJ

Hosting requires – outside space for sports/football activities and inside space for food and any other games/activities. Space should be big enough to accommodate for 30 students.
